Our candle collections: Explained

When we first started Noël & C., we didn’t know we were starting a collection. Our “brand aesthetic” was decided by my twin sister, Janie, who suggested Vintage Apothecary. Every label was white and designed by Mom. And we liked it that way. Simple. Clean. Every candle we made wore that same simple white look, which we now call our Original Blanc Collection—a quiet nod to where it all began. Since then, our little shelf of candles has grown into a whole family of collections. Some are moody. Some are bright. Some are painted by my twin sister, Janie, when inspiration (or the season) strikes. Here’s a tour of each one, from our home studio shelves to your home.

Blanc Collection

The candles that started it all.

This was the original label: simple white, no embellishments, no fuss. We didn’t even know it would be called “Blanc” back then. These candles hold our lightest, airiest scents - the ones that don’t scream for attention but quietly make the room feel better. Think linen, driftwood, floral, or just-cleaned energy. They still feel like home to us. 

Noir Collection

Our dark, moody, late-night line.

The Noir Collection came from a place of pure obsession. A few of our OG candles have been rebranded into this collection, including our signature scent: Apollo & Hades. These candles are earthy, spicy, rich, and a little mysterious. The labels are deep black, the scents linger, and the team loves them, maybe too much. If you’ve ever stayed up too late with a book and a blanket, you’ll probably love them, too.

Vert Collection

If you love plants (or wish you were better at keeping them alive).

This is our greenest collection - literally and figuratively. The labels are green, and the scents are fresh, garden-inspired, and often herbal. Lavender & Sage, Tomato & Basil, Lemon & Thyme… these are the blends that remind us of backyard gardens, kitchen counters covered in clippings, and days of Spring and Summer. 

Café Collection

Warm, sweet, and a little indulgent (like a good Saturday morning).

Originally called the Coffee House Collection, these are our sweetest candles. Maple & Chai, Coffee & Cacao, and other blends that smell like something you’d order at a cozy café with steamed milk and a flaky pastry. You don’t have to love coffee to love this collection. But it probably helps.

Nova Scotia Art Series 

Janie paints. We turn it into scent. A love letter to home.

This one’s all heart. Janie painted three Nova Scotia landmarks, and we turned them into candles. Each one is a blend of place, memory, and scent - our way of bottling up the province we call home. There’s something incredibly special about seeing a candle with your home province on the label. Even more so when your twin painted it. Honestly, it’s easy to forget how beautiful this province is until you’ve left for a while. 

Botanique Collection

For the purists. Our most eco-friendly, luxe candles.

Everything in the Botanique Collection is made with our highest standard of materials—eco-conscious ingredients, the cleanest wax blends, and scents that feel intentional. They’re a little more luxurious, a little more refined, and kind of the candles we imagined making once we got a handle on what we were doing. (Spoiler: we’re still learning.)

Limited Edition Collection

Seasonal, hand-painted labels. Because Janie can’t stop painting.

These come out for Mother’s Day, Easter, Christmas… and sometimes just because Janie gets inspired. Each label is hand-painted, and the scents are seasonal and small-batch. They tend to go fast (collectors, we see you). More are coming. Always more.

Harvest Collection

The moment the leaves start turning, this is all we burn.

This can also be called our Candle Season collection (Though I’d have to say the same for Christmas). It’s full of cozy, spicy, nostalgic scents. Everything that screams (softly) autumn. These candles were made for cool nights, oversized sweaters, and mugs you have to hold with two hands. We pour a lot of them - and somehow always sell out. 

Gold Collection

Gem-coloured labels. A little fancy. A little festive.

We wanted something that felt celebratory but still very us. So we made the Gold Collection. With jewel-toned labels and scent blends that sparkle just a bit more, it includes Salt & Sea (a cousin of Seaside & Storm), Crimson & Clover (our cinnamon-forward candle named after one of Janie’s favourite songs), and Forest & Fir (arguably the best Christmas tree scent, in my humble opinion).

Holiday Collection

Named after Christmas songs. Because Mom is a genius.

We knew the Holiday Collection was coming from the beginning. The names for them, however, were Mom’s idea. Each scent is inspired by a classic Christmas song—Merry & Bright (orange and clove), Comfort & Joy (vanilla and soft spices), and more. They’re festive without being cheesy, warm without being cloying, and somehow feel like music and memory all in one.
